RoBattle is a six-wheeled unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). It is being marketed for dangerous jobs that would normally be performed by infantry troops. The drone is designed to accompany troops into battle and to scale urban obstacles that are currently inaccessible to other robots. It can do everything from battlefield surveillance to ambushes. It can be operated by a human and is also “autonomous on several levels”.
It has a fully independent suspension system – the wheels on the same axle are designed to move independently of each other. It has an all-wheel drive powertrain and large, grippy tires to provide traction. It can also be configured with tracks.
The drone is designed to conduct “armed reconnaissance, decoy, and ambush and attack” missions, along with armed reconnaissance and convoy protection. With its Pitbull Remote Weapons Station, the RoBattle can be outfitted with day and night optical sensors and a remotely fired machine gun. Its sensors can automatically detect gunfire and automatically return fire. It can also be equipped with an articulated arm or a battlefield sensor package.
At this time, there is not much more information available about the RoBattle.
