The National World War I Museum and Memorial announced the appointments of Dave Ebbrecht, Andrea Hendricks, Tim Kristl and John Sherman to the organization’s Board of Trustees.
Ebbrecht, Hendricks, Kristl and Sherman will each serve three-year terms on the Museum’s Board of Trustees, which currently stands at 24 members (complete list below). In addition to the appointments, Mark Jorgensen (National Head of Community Banking, U.S. Bank) will serve as the Chair of the Board of Trustees, while Mark Henderson (Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer, Lockton Companies) is Vice Chairman, Kevin Rooney (Senior Vice President, Bank of America Merrill Lynch) is the Treasurer and Elaine Drodge Koch (Partner, Bryan Cave) will be the Secretary.

Sherman is an entrepreneur who has started and developed two successful businesses based in Kansas City, Missouri. His first startup, LPG Services, grew rapidly and merged with Dynegy (NYSE:DYN) in 1996. Sherman is the founder and past Chairman and CEO of Inergy, L.P. and Inergy Midstream, L.P. He led the company through a period of tremendous growth, creating total enterprise value of nearly $5 billion prior to merging with Crestwood Holdings. Sherman currently serves on the board of the combined company – Crestwood Equity Partners LP (NYSE:CEQP). He is an owner of the American League Champion Cleveland Indians Baseball Club and serves as their Vice Chairman. Sherman also serves on the board of Great Plains Energy (NYSE:GXP) where he chairs the Compensation Committee and is a member of the Audit Committee. Sherman has been recognized with numerous honors, including as an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year, among others. In 2009, he was named Entrepreneur of the Year by UMKC’s Bloch School of Business and the Council for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. In 2012, he received the Hope Award from the National MS Society for his philanthropic work in the Kansas City community. He is the past chairman of the Truman Presidential Library Institute, a role that was especially meaningful to him as his wife’s grandfather served in WWI with Harry Truman.
Hendricks is assistant vice president of HR, deputy director of the Office of Minority & Women Inclusion (OMWI), and secretary and advisor to the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City’s Management Committee. Over the past 20 years, Hendricks has worked in the non-profit, higher education and financial services sector leading diversity, development and training strategies and programs. She joined the Bank from UMB Financial Corporation where she led diversity and inclusion programs across a 10-state region.
Prior to UMB, she served as Vice President of Programs and Services for the Urban League of Greater Kansas City, President/CEO of the Don Bosco Community Center and Associate Dean of Student Services at Penn Valley Community College. She also has held administrative positions at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and Kansas State University. Hendricks holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Development Psychology and Mass Communications from Kansas State University, a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Kansas State University, and a Doctorate in Psychology and Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Ebbrecht returns to the Board of Trustees after previously serving from 2011-14. He was appointed Senior Vice President of the Northeast Region for Genesse & Wyoming Railroad in October 2014. Prior, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Kansas City Southern. After serving as an Attack Helicopter Commander/Operations Officer in the U.S. Army, Ebbrecht began his railroad career in 1996 with CSX Transportation. After joining KCS in 2001, he served in a variety of senior management positions, including Vice President of Transportation and Executive Vice President of Operations. Ebbrecht graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point with a bachelor’s degree in engineering and psychology. He also graduated from U.S. Army Flight School, and earned an MBA from the University of Missouri.
Kristl previously served as a member of the Board of Trustees for several years, including as Chair from 2007-09. Kristl is a member of Kristl & Lieber, LLC, a law firm concentrated in estate planning, taxation, tax incentives, corporations and business law. He has given many talks on legal, insurance and estate planning topics to clients, attorneys and financial advisors. Kristl is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, receiving a Bachelors of Business Administration in accounting in 1965 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Notre Dame Law School in 1968. From 1969-72, he served as a Captain in the United States Army JAG Corps. In 1976, he received his Master of Laws (in Taxation) degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City.
